Fast Mirror @ Multimedia Repository

GStreamer LogoThanks to Joakim in Norway there is now a mirror of the repository setup at http://opensolaris.homeunix.com:10906. This should overcome the issues with bandwidth most experience trying to install packages from my server (my speed is only 384kb/s).

Packages updates

How often do you usually update packages in your repository? For example mplayer to the latest snapshot, etc.

Thanks.

Spec files

Hello,
Can I get the *.spec files somewhere around here?
I would like to recompile the packages for amd64, because I have a strange video colors in your builds. Then I'll upload my 64b packages to the repository + I am working on Qt and SMPlayer package.

Thanks a lot.

MPlayer for OpenSolaris @ Multimedia Repository

MPlayer LogoI finally managed to get MPlayer compiled and packaged. Although I rarely use MPlayer (Totem is my preference) a lot of people are big fans. A special thanks to Bruno Schmitt for some very helpful hints.

GStreamer ASF Plugin @ Multimedia Repository

GStreamer LogoAlthough I encourage everyone to purchase the Fluendo GStreamer Playback Plugins if you can, I've made the free GStreamer ASF Plugin available from my ips repository at http://ips.homeunix.com:10906.

It appears that having the GStreamer FFMPEG plugin isn't enough to play ASF files without the Fluendo pack. With both FFMPEG and ASF plugins installed you can. The FFMPEG plugin will take care of the WMA and WMV audio and video streams found in most ASF files.

GStreamer DVD Video Plugins @ Multimedia Repository

GStreamer LogoThe GStreamer plugins required for DVD video playback have been available on my old repository for quite a while. I've recompiled the plugins with OpenSolaris 2009.06 and have been testing them for a few weeks. Until recently I was having problems getting the DVD playback working properly. "WhatsWrongWithThis" mentioned some compatibility issues between the free GStreamer DVD plugins and the Fluendo GStreamer Playback Plugins. I investigated and I think I have overcome the problem. The plugins have now been added to my new repository at http://ips.homeunix.com:10906. Read below for installation instructions and more detail about the compatibility issue with one of the Fluendo libraries.

GStreamer Plugins

ASF

The GStreamer Plugin required for playback of Microsoft's ASF file format.

DVD Video

A collection of DVD plugins that can be used for watching DVD Video on OpenSolaris

FFMPEG & FLV

GStreamer FLV muxing and demuxing plugin and the FFMPEG plugin

MP3

A collection of MP3 plugins that can be used for the decoding and encoding of MP3 files

GStreamer FFMPEG & FLV Plugins @ Multimedia Repository

GStreamer LogoThe GStreamer FFMPEG and FLV Plugins are available from my repository at http://ips.homeunix.com:10906.

You will need to install MBLgst-plugin-flv and MBLgst-plugin-ffmpeg to play most flash video files.

GStreamer MP3 Plugins @ Multimedia Repository

GStreamer LogoThe Free GStreamer MP3 Plugins are now available from my repository at http://ips.homeunix.com:10906. These plugins can be used to play and encode MP3 files. The plugins required for ID3 Tag manipulation are also provided.

Although I have packaged MBLgst-plugin-mad for playing MP3 files, I would highly recommend you use the Fluendo MP3 GStreamer Plugin. Better still, the complete set of Fluendo GStreamer Plugins are fantastic.

EasyTAG 2.1 @ Multimedia Repository

EasyTAG LogoI've added EasyTAG 2.1 to my repository at http://ips.homeunix.com:10906.

I've been using it for quite a while and it works well.

If you have any problems with it send me an email (mblakeman@netspace.net.au) or leave me a comment.

Enjoy
